THE LEVELING SYSTEM
The Leveling System here in Grand Odyssey is going to be pretty simplistic. As we've seen in many other forums - people tend to deal best with a word count style; as such we're going to give you players what you want and do just that. That said, let's take a moment to explain how it works.
300 Words = 1 Odyssey Point
150 Words = .5 Odyssey Point
Let me break this down for you. In a post you'll type a certain amount of words. While it's not determined how many words you need to type, you may find yourself reaching these word milestones; these milestones are whats known as Odyssey Points. What can Odyssey Points do? Well, these are used to level up your character. Let's venture further as I explain how that's going to work here.
LEVEL | OP REQUIRED
Level 2 | 2 OP
Level 3 | 4 OP
Level 4 | 6 OP
Level 5 | 10 OP
Level 6 | 16 OP
As the clever ones would have noticed, we have adopted the fibonacci sequence. To explain in laymen terms, the next level will take as much OP as your current level and your previous one combined. To give an example, level 7 would require 13(from level 6) + 8(from level 5) = 21. Level 8 would take 34 OP, so on and so forth. We've done this to promote working hard through posting in quests, raids, dungeons, and other battling situations, without making it an unfair amount of effort, like doubling up your post count each time. Now -I bet you've already caught on to what I said prior; give me a moment, I swear I'll explain. As to make sure people aren't abusing our kind little level up system here, we've limited the places that you can earn Odyssey Points at. That's where we head into our next section of this thread; Thread Types.
THREAD TYPES
Social - Threads that contain no battles what-so-ever. From hanging out with your friends to going on a date with your lovely lady. All social interactions fit under the social category.
Quest - Threads that are designed specifically for questing. Usually DM'd by a player or requested DM. OP Can be earned here.
Dungeons - Player Run Dungeons or GM Run Dungeons. OP can be earned here.
PVP - Player versus Player threads. In PVP Threads, all OP earned is halved; but that's not all. In order to ensure fairness and make sure fights aren't being botched simply for EXP, a moderator will read over the fight; we trust you players, just want to make sure an actual fight is taking place.
Crafting - This Thread pertains to any and everything with Crafting Classes. Whether that's looking for materials, questing for materials, or the actual crafting.
Raids - Large scale dungeon threads. GM Run with extra OP bonus opportunity. OP can be earned here.
Now that we're done with that, let me talk about the Liquid Time. Grand Odyssey does indeed run on Liquid Time for it's posting - with a few exceptions; quests and dungeons. As we've seen, people tend to get overwhelmed by the amount of threads they are in and end up not posting in any. In order to prevent that from happening, we're currently limiting it to three quests and three dungeons max for each character at a time. Raids are a completely different story and can be joined at any moment.
On a final note, a lot of people are going to wonder what you get out of a doing a social thread. Well, that's actually one of many ways to earn cash in the game. If you're in need of some quick cash, throw down a social thread or two; you'll get that shiny new necklace in no time.
